Just the flats of the image Im working on. This is gonna be Riz's Raligard Military uniform. The background Im gonna do all digital and I know what Im doing for that. Just dont know if I wanna do Riz in soft shading or stick with my cell shading for Im better at that. I may do cell for Im leaning towards that for the coloring style of Bloodlines. Mainly for I have more control over it and Im still a noob at soft shading still lol.

I'm not one to write critiques on DA (I prefer to give them in person/over voice), but I've known you a good long while, so I figured you'd like something from someone familiar.

I'll start off by saying I really, -really- like Rizyu's character design. Always have, always will. He's such a dynamic, active looking character. I love his shape and structure. Anthros can be hard characters to build, as often times they tend to look like people with random animal features slapped on. Between his design and your style the animal and human features blend together seamlessly.

The outfit is simple, yet effective. Not too bland, but not too exquisitely detailed either. I really like the design of the gun (I personally rather suck at prop designs so I give kudos to anyone who can pull them off so well).

My favorite part - color. I love your color theory. Between his coloration and the colors chosen for the outfit, everything works so well and is absolutely splendid. With the exception of the side stripe, the greens are muted enough so as not to take away from the colors of his character. And they really bring out the red of the blood and his eyes. (I'm personally bothered when clothing steals the spotlight of a character picture - it's about the character, not what they're wearing.)

Only things that strike me as off is the pose itself - if this were in silhouette you wouldn't really be able to tell what's going on. It seems a little closed in? Just spreading things out a little more, like his tail, the gun, and his feet might give it a slightly more open feeling and made the silhouette easier to decipher. But again, I'm majoring in animation so we personally pay a lot of attention to silhouettes and poses. It may not be as important in illustration. The only other thing is that having his eye on top of his hair takes away from the depth of his form. But this is also just a stylistic thing that I personally dislike - I don't like it when I see it in anime, either. To me it just takes away from the visual mold and form of a character and makes them look 2D. Different strokes, however.

Fantastic piece, Rizzy! I can't wait to see the finished product!
